Care Packages through the end of June are a celebration of LGBTQ Pride Month. I know it’s not much, but I want to put as much support as I could into the world, and this seemed like a good way to add a bit more. Happy Pride Month.

Quote: “Being transgender, like being gay, tall, short, white, black, male, or female, is another part of the human condition that makes each unique individual, and something over which we have no control. We are who we are in the deepest recesses of our minds, heart, and identities.” – Linda Thompson
Travel/History: All the entries here through the end of June come from nyclgbsites.org, an excellent website that documents the historical and cultural locations in New York City that are associated with the LGBTQ community.

The first public demonstration in support of gay rights took place at 39 Whitehall Street in Manhattan. Organizers staged the demonstration outside the U.S. Army Building to take a stand against policies that discriminated against LGBT people.
