Care Packages through the end of June are a celebration of LGBTQ Pride Month. I know it’s not much, but I want to put as much support as I could into the world, and this seemed like a good way to add a bit more. Happy Pride Month.

Quote: “Personally, coming out was one of the most important things I’ve ever done, lifting from my shoulders the milestone of lies that I hadn’t even realized I was carrying.” – Sir Ian McKellan
Travel/History: All the entries here through the end of June come from nyclgbsites.org, an excellet website that documents the historical and cultural locations in New York City that are associated with the LGBTQ community.

The Gumby Book Studio, once located at 2144 Fifth Ave. in Manhattan, was operated from 1926-1931 by Alexander Gumby, an openly gay man who collected clippings, rare books, and other vital records of African-American history. The studio was one of the go-to spots during the Harlem Renaissance. For more information, visit www.nyclgbtsites.org/site/gumby-book-studio/.
