Welcome to A Touch of Silver.
I’m going to be doing a lot more writing from here on out, so don’t be surprised if more and more stuff starts showing up on the ol’ blog. I started Blood On the Keyboard last week, and that’s been well-received, and hopefully this will be, too.
A Touch of Silver is going to be my (hopefully) daily attempt at finding the silver lining in these obsidian clouds that have covered over the blue sky of our daily lives. I hope these pieces help you through tough times, but I’ve gotta tell you … I’m doing this as much for me as for you. If I don’t hold myself accountable to look for those points of light in the darkness, I just plain won’t. For me, this is as much an exercise in mindfulness and positivity as it is for writing.
Which brings me to today’s bit of silver.
Suddenly, I have more time for writing than I ever imagined I would. I spent my days bemoaning the fact that I didn’t have enough opportunities in a day to put pen to paper or fingers to keyboard.
Manuscript revisions for my novel.
This here blog.
A list of story ideas that just gets longer and longer.
There were not enough hours in a day.
Be careful what you wish for, jackass.
But here I am. After today, I’ve got all the time in the world, so I’ll see what I’m really capable of. In the past week or so, I’ve easily tripled (at least) my daily output at ethandezotelle.com. It puts a bit of energy and excitement in my spirit to think about what I can do going forward.
One thing I’m considering is self-publishing my novel on Amazon, rather than going the traditional publishing route, should the COVID-19 situation play out the way I’m expecting it to. There’s no point in sitting on something if I can put it out in the world for others to (hopefully) enjoy, or at the very least use for passing the days.
Anyway, that’s the first glimmer of silver I’ve got for you. I hope it helps you shift your perspective on things a bit.
If you’ve got a silver lining you’d like to share with me, you can post it below or email it to me at firstname.lastname@example.org. With permission, I’ll share them here as part of A Touch of Silver. Thanks!
