Care Packages through the end of June are a celebration of LGBTQ Pride Month. I know it’s not much, but I want to put as much support as I could into the world, and this seemed like a good way to add a bit more. Happy Pride Month.

Travel/History: All the entries here through the end of June come from nyclgbsites.org, an excellent website that documents the historical and cultural locations in New York City that are associated with the LGBTQ community.

In the early 1930s, the Stewart’s Cafeteria located at 116 7th Avenue South was a gathering spot for members of the gay, lesbian, and bohemian community. The spot closed by the middle of the decade, reopening as Life Cafeteria, which remained a popular destination. For more information, visit www.nyclgbtsites.org/site/stewarts-cafeteria/.
