After a bit of a hiatus, the Cosmic Jukebox is returning (albeit with a shorter name).
I put the Cosmic Jukebox on hold because I wanted to dedicate more time to other forms of writing. But the thing is, this daily dive into songs is exactly the sort of writing I need right now to keep up a daily writing habit. And the writing I did for The Cosmic Jukebox earlier this year profoundly deepened my relationship with my memories and my past.
So starting soon ((maybe tomorrow?), I’ll be back to the daily posts that examine songs, memories, and people that are important to me. I’d like to say it’ll start now, but I’ve got a wonky schedule for a couple weeks. Maybe I’ll get a few non-daily ones posted between now and the daily posts.
We’ll see …
In the meantime, I want to recommend a relatively new podcast that does what I do with The Cosmic Jukebox, but with books. It’s called Richard Hatem’s Paranormal Bookshelf.
Hatem is a screenwriter who has written for TV shows including Titans, Grimm, and Supernatural, and movies including The Mothman Prophecies and Under Siege 2: Dark Territory. Like me, he is deeply fascinated with the paranormal. Each episode of his podcast examines a different book on the subject, through the lens of Hatem’s life experiences.
It’s an excellent podcast that is well worth your time, regardless of where you stand on the paranormal.
Ok. That’s it for now. But I’ll be back soon, and I’ll be kicking off the second volume of The Cosmic Jukebox with a big, big song from the summer of 1989.
