Professor Sandman’s Cosmic Jukebox of Harmonic Consciousness: GENTLE ON MY MIND by Glen Campbell

2.9.24

Not a lot to say tonight.

I just want to hold this space for anyone seeking gentleness at the end of a difficult week. It’s been a stretch of days filled with unmet expectations, illness, and sadness for so many people I know and care about.

When I was little, this song from Glen Campbell’s 1967 album of the same name would play on my parents’ 8-track deck. I’d close my eyes and pretend I was riding a train through the sun-bleached countryside I’d seen in old westerns. It was peaceful and brought solace to a kid who worried way more than he should have.

So tonight (or whenever you read and listen to this), press play, close your eyes, and find that gentle place that brings you peace.

Who knows? Maybe I’ll see you there.

It’s just knowing that the world

Will not be cursing or forgiving

When I walk along some railroad track and find

That you’re moving on the back roads

By the rivers of my memory

And for hours you’re just gentle on my mind
