Professor Sandman’s Cosmic Jukebox of Harmonic Consciousness: HEARD IT ON THE RADIO by The Bird and the Bee

Jan. 11, 2024

Summer is on my mind tonight. And with it, summertime music.

The drive home this evening was filled with snow and slippery roads. A big, windy storm (the second in less than a week) is coming Saturday, and there are two big snowstorms possible next week.

So I’m thinking of summer.

On the list of things that make me happy, going for a drive on a sunny summer day with the windows down, music blasting, is pretty high on the list. I love it as much now as when I was 16.

Tonight’s song, from The Bird and the Bee’s incredible album of Hall & Oates covers, Interpreting the Masters, Vol. 1, is a meta summer song. It’s as much a song about summer songs as it is a summer song.

Now I’m off to close my eyes and drift away into summer.

And every time I hear it play
I think of you and those summer days
