I don’t know if there’s a better way to guarantee a long, difficult week at school than having a short week at school. This four-day week was nine days long.
Regardless, there’s something every day that’s worth holding close to my heart and filing away for future remembrance. This week was one for the record books, and as it ends, I have so much gratitude for the kiddos and adults I work with.
There was only one way through the past four days, and that was together. Tonight, we are still doing things together, as we share a profound sense of exhaustion. I didn’t have to be a mind reader to know the students my teaching partner and I spend our days with were spent by the time busses arrived. So were the grown ups.
As I got ready to turn in, there was really only one song I wanted to listen to and connect with, and it was this one.
Sweet dreams to my students, my dear friends, and everyone reading this.
How will you know if you’ve found me at last?
‘Cause I’ll be the one be the one be the one
With my heart in my lap
I’m so tired
I’m so tired
And I wish I was the moon tonight
